Information about the Palma Ceia Swim Team

This spring swim team was started in 1996 to reach to all levels of swimmers. The program has been very successful with training all levels of swimmers.  The coaches stress on getting the swimmers to improve and reach their goals. In our program we believe in training with fun!.  If you are interested in PCCC, you must be a member or grandchild of a member of Palma Ceia Country Club, please email Coach Todd at toddhoff@verizon.net.   

We are here to support your needs. If your questions are related to workouts, meets, events, goal setting, and other swimming related needs, please contact one of the coaches. For all questions related to administrative, such as dues, safety, or policy issues, please contact one of the swim team adivsory board members.

Todd Hoffmeier

Head Coach

Todd Hoffmeier is the Head Coach for Palma Ceia Country Club Swim Team. He has coached with PCCC since 1995 and returns for his thirteenth season with the team.  Todd was promoted to Head Coach of PCCC after Coach Mike Laughrey’s retirement in 1998. Todd has more than 19 years of coaching experience, having taught swimmers everything from stroke technique, goal setting, self confidence, commitment, and video analysis.  He works with all ages of swimmers from toddlers to teenagers, teaching proper technique and a love of the sport.

Originally from Arizona, Todd was a state champion in the 200 IM and runner-up in the 100 fly as a youth.  During his competitive swim career, Todd swam under Pierre Lafontaine, former head coach of the Phoenix Swim Club in Arizona, and now head of Canadian Swimming, as well as Bob Gillett, head coach of Golden West Swim Club and owner of the Arizona Sports Ranch.

He came to Tampa on a University of Tampa swimming scholarship.  He swam for three years, graduating in 3½ with a bachelor of science in elementary education.  Todd has coached several of his swimmers to the collegiate level, and he has coached high school swimming, most notable, Maritza Correia, a former Olympian.  He also was selected as a Spring 2010 All-Star Coach for Florida Swimming.

Todd also coaches the South Tampa Aquatic Team (STAT) in the winter, a combined Palma Ceia and Tampa Yacht Team, which has sent several swimmers to the Florida Junior Olympics.

Todd is a member of numerous coaching organizations; is certified in CPR/AED; First Aid; WSI; is an avid lifeguard trainer; is a Level 3 ASCA Swim Coach; and, he has been recognized by the USA Level 2 Swim Team recognition program.

Todd resides in Tampa with his wife Tammy and their three children Jett (5), Jade (3), and JT (newborn). He currently teaches Physical Education at St. John’s Episcopal School, where he has been for 7 years.

Blaine Bess

Blaine Bess just finished his collegiate swimming career at the University of Tampa and is now swimming on the master's team. He is graduating from the University of Tampa in May with a degree in Secondary Education. Blaine has worked with our swim program for several years now with coaching and teaching swim lessons.  Blaine will be working with the Dolphin Group, Age Group I and Age group II swimmers.

Dani Heaton

Dani Heaton will be working with the Dolphin Group, Age Group I and Age Group II swimmers.  Dani was born in Texas where she swam competitively in high school and for the Donner Swim Club.  After graduating she then went on to swim at the University of Kansas.  She then moved to Iowa where she was an assistant coach for the Rock Island Orcas for 2 years.  Dani has a great enthusiasm for the sport of swimming.

Keely Douglas

Keely Douglas works with the Dolphin Group and Age Group I swimmers.  She does an outstanding job helping the swimmers with their technique and diving.  She was a former USS competitive swimmer in the Tampa area with GTSA and Plant High School Swim Team. She attended FSU for College, majoring in English and Philosophy.  Keely has alo worked as a lifeguard at FSU's Rez (a lake) and is the head lifeguard at Palma Ceia Country Club. 

Charlsey Reynolds

Charlsey Reynolds just graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor science in Psychology and a minor in Education. She swam all four years on the varsity swim team at H.B. Plant High and has enjoyed the sport since she was young. She works with the Dolphin Group and Age Group I swimmers to develop their skills and perfect their strokes in order to compete to the best of their abilities.
